Herma's High Speed Plant With Triple Coating Capacity

Self-adhesive labels technology specialist Herma has laid the foundation store for a £30m coating plant adjoining its existing coating facility at Filderstadt Bonlanden near Stuttgart which it says will not only be the world's most modern operation of its kind but will also increase by 200% its coating annual coating capacity.

The multi-story facility, expected to be operational by the end of the year end, should enable it to "remain well ahead of marketing demand for adhesive materials". for the past decade Herma's Self-Adhesive Materials division reports double figure growth in demand, which it says "far exceeds" the marketing growth rate of 4%.

The company supplies 70% of its adhesive material to customers worldwide, while 30% is used for producing such as self-adhesive label sheets for PC printers and copiers.

Herma MD Dr Thomas Baumgartner says: "This coating plant represents the start of a new era, with the potential annual production capacity for adhesive labels set to triple." the labelling specialist says it is also set to triple. "The labelling specialist says it is set to achieve a breakthrough in coating speeds, with production rates increasing from 1,100-1200m/min, thanks to the latest generation adhesive coaters.
