Thermal Transfer:<\/strong><\/p>\n Thermal transfer labels use a ribbon to produce an image, text and even barcodes and come in a variety of different colours, so you don\u2019t have to use just black. There are three main types of ribbons which are wax, wax resin and resin. A thermal transfer ribbon can be used on different types of materials such as paper, film and foil.<\/p>\n Direct Thermal:<\/strong><\/p>\n Direct thermal labels are usually used for shipping labels, receipts and in the food industry. Direct thermal printers require the use of heat activated thermal paper and film and do not require the need of a thermal transfer ribbon.
