Frozen Seafood Labels for Macduff Shellfish

Frozen Seafood Labels | Macduff Shellfish

When it comes to printed labels for premium seafood, presentation and performance matter just as much as provenance.

We recently produced a series of multilingual frozen food labels for langoustine packs manufactured by Macduff Shellfish as part of the Metro Chef range of seafood for professional kitchens. Designed for whole, raw langoustines (Nephrops norvegicus), these labels are applied to frozen packs distributed across multiple European markets, where clarity, durability and regulatory compliance are essential.

Frozen seafood presents a unique challenge. Printed labels must perform in low-temperature environments, withstand condensation and maintain perfect adhesion throughout the cold chain, from processing facility to freezer cabinet. For this project, we supplied materials and freezer-grade adhesives specifically selected to ensure reliable application and long-term performance, even in demanding frozen storage conditions. Print clarity was equally critical, particularly across detailed ingredient panels and nutritional tables. As with all our labels, these are produced using the latest in printing plate and UV ink technologies.

Multilingual Compliance for European Distribution

One of the defining elements of this project was the multilingual requirement. These printed labels were produced in multiple languages including English, German, French, Portuguese, Romanian and Bulgarian to meet export regulations across various European territories. Each version includes full ingredient declarations, allergen information, nutritional values, storage guidance and catch area details, all structured clearly to remain legible without compromising the overall design.

Managing multiple languages within a single label format requires careful artwork control. Text expansion, regulatory formatting and alignment across versions must be handled precisely to ensure consistency while maintaining a clean, premium finish. The design team have ensured every language version retained the same visual identity, allowing the product to present a unified brand presence across markets.

Visually, the labels balance strong brand colour panels with clear species identification and structured nutritional information. The result is a professional, export-ready label that communicates quality and compliance in equal measure.

At Etiquette, we regularly support seafood producers operating in chilled and frozen supply chains across the UK and Europe. Whether it’s specialist short runs or large-scale export production, we combine material expertise with precision print to ensure labels not only look exceptional but perform exactly as they should.
